Year 5 - Armstrong Class
We would like to welcome you to Armstrong Class. Our class teacher is Miss Huggins and our Learning Support Assistants are Mrs Cronin and Mrs Gould.
This term our learning journey in History is Early Civilisations, Natural Resources in Geography, Earth and Space and Forces in Science, Mechanisms and Mechanical in Design and Technology and Painting and Mixed Media in Art.
During our class novel time we will be reading a range of exciting books by variety of authors and the children will have the opportunity to vote for their class novels, which will be shared as a whole class. This term we have started reading the first book from A Series of Unfortunate Events collection, written by Lemony Snicket
Please ensure zippy wallets come into school with the children every day.
Monday - Spelling test
Tuesday – PE day (All children come into school in their PE kits) and Library Time
Doodle Learning homework is expected to be completed almost every day of the week. All 4 subjects should be done across the 20 mins at school and at home.

We follow Lighting the Path in Religious. The children learn two and a half hours of RE per week in KS2 and are involve in Class and Phase Liturgical prayers.
Things that help us learn
We will be continuing to use Google Classroom as our online learning platform in Key Stage 2. Reading books are sent home on a weekly basis which are pitched at your child’s current phonic ability and at a level they can decode and comprehend at a 95% accuracy. Please also encourage your children to read online using Oxford buddies and complete the comprehension activity. Weekly personalised spellings are sent home to consolidate the understanding of spellings and spelling rules the children have been taught. Spellings for many children will be taken from Government issued statutory word lists.
