We would like to welcome you to Mandela Class. Our class teacher is Mrs Pearce and our Learning Support Assistant is Mrs Bajar-Heath.   

This term our learning journey in History is Ancient Greece. In Geography we will be exploring South America and investigating Rio de Janeiro in more detail. In science, we are currently learning about animals, including Humans, focusing on how the body works along with keeping it healthy.

Please ensure school reading books come into school with the children every day.

Tuesday – PE day (All children come into school in their PE kits)

Wednesday – Homework (due back on Monday)

A normal day in our class

We follow Lighting the Path in Religious Education. The children learn two and a half hours of RE per week in KS2 and are involved in Collective Worship.

Things that help us learn

We use Doodle Learning to support the children’s learning, which is also used as our class homework. Please ensure you are encouraging your child to complete Doodle regularly and independently to support them with their transition to secondary school. Reading books are sent home on a weekly basis which are pitched at your child’s current reading ability and at a level they can decode and comprehend at a 95% accuracy. We greatly encourage reading outside of school, including both independent and listened to reading. Weekly spellings are sent home to consolidate understanding of spellings and spelling rules the children have been taught. Spellings for many children will be taken from Government issued statutory word lists.
