With Jesus in our Hearts, we have:
The passion to learn,
The courage to fail,
The strength to love
Our Teachers are Mrs Dickinson and Mrs Robson and our wonderful Learning Support Assistant is Mrs Horos.
At the moment, our topic is called ‘I wonder why’ and in it we are learning all about Forces in Spring 1, Electricity in Spring 2 and about famous Scientists who made fascinating discoveries that changed the way we think about and understand our world. We are also developing our geography skills, thinking about the importance of fieldwork.
We are reading Wonder by R.J. Palacio and The Boy at the back of the Class by Onjali Q. Raúf.

Our outdoor PE session is every Thursday. Please remember to come to school in your PE kit including jogging bottoms.
We follow God Matters in Religious Education (the Portsmouth Diocese scheme of learning). The children learn two and a half hours in KS2 each week. Collective worship occurs daily. Our thematic topic learning (history, geography, art, design and technology) generally occurs in the afternoons.
Things that help us learn
We use Timestable Rockstars, Mathletics and Oxford Reading Owl to support our home learning. We have established the use of Google Classroom as our online learning platform in Key Stage 2 and CGP revision guides in Year 6 to support our homework and SAT’s revision.
Our Curriculum Web
In Year 5/6, we have a biannual curriculum. This year our learning includes learning about the amazing Ancient Egyptians, Space, Forces, Electricity and many more exciting things! Take a look at our curriculum webs to see what we are going to learn about throughout our Year 5/6 journey.
Trips
Normally in Year 5/6, to accompany this year’s learning, we go to the British Museum in the Autumn term and Intech Science Centre & Planetarium in the Summer Term. Year 6, go on a residential adventure holiday for a week, again usually in the Autumn term. However, due to the pandemic, we aren’t able to go on any of our normal trips. We will keep you updated if there are any changes and if we are able to go on any virtual visits.
If you have any questions or there is anything urgent that you think I need to know, please contact the School Office either by phone at 01252 548123 or by email at adminoffice@st-bernadettes.hants.sch.uk.
