Whole School Harvest Homework Autumn 2016
Following Cafod’s Harvest theme –
‘Brighten Up This Harvest’
“Jesus asks us to forgive and to give. To be instruments of mercy
because it was we who first received mercy from God.”
Pope Francis, Misericordiae Vultus, #14
As Pope Francis has asked Catholics to ‘rediscover’ the corporal works of mercy during this Year of Mercy, the Cafod Harvest campaign will help us to fulfil this by ‘feeding the hungry’. Cafod are asking us to Brighten Up this Harvest to raise money to help families in Bolivia, one of the poorest countries in South America where many children suffer from malnourishment.
This whole school homework will also help us to brighten up our homes and schools, while raising funds for this worthy cause.
We are asking you to do four things:
Decorate bunting: using words and pictures. You could try:
Be as artistic and creative as you can be with your bunting, and return it to school by Monday 3rd October. We are looking forward to having a fabulous display of bunting to decorate St Bernadette’s for the Harvest Liturgies.
On 7th October, you can come to school dressed in colourful clothes. You could wear your house colours, or something bright and colourful to Brighten Up this Harvest. Please, no football kits, and do wear sensible school shoes. This will combine with the Be Safe Be Seen road safety campaign, so make sure that you are bright and colourful!
Look out for our Harvest Fast Day envelopes coming out to families for donations to Cafod this Harvest. Your donations will support Cafod’s work in making a difference to the poorest communities across the world.
Many thanks to our families for supporting the children with this homework.
